Buy better

Our economic situation is bad news for many but I'm sure Mother Nature is rejoicing in it! With the economy slowing down so is the production of all the unneeded stuff that we rush to buy on sale just before Christmas. Let's take advantage of this time to turn the tides on the products we buy. When you are shopping this Christmas, choose to buy from companies that sell green, promote green and practice green. Let's show businesses that we support those who make a difference and see them succeed over those who don't. Wouldn't it be nice to see a Whole Foods open up where a big box store closed down?!
When choosing your holiday gifts, think a little before you buy.
Check out the websites to the right for ideas on businesses who care about the earth, from wooden toy makers to organic wine. May your holidays be green and bright!
Have a merry Christmas!!

Hi Monique!
Thanks for the green christmas reminder - there's still time to go to the one of a kind show in Toronto. Most of the small businesses there are way greener than bigger business even if their product isn't specifically labelled as "green". And the quality of good design is amazing!
Cheers! Mary Ellen

Thank you Mary Ellen. I've added the website on the list. The show is also in Vancouver, NYC and Chicago.

This year the adults are getting gifts that are given to others... My Mom is getting a PIG, in Mozambique! My in-laws are getting bees! We let the kids pick from the gift brochure from Foster Parents Plan and bought for people who really need things. It was fun and easy, you can call or donate on line.
My new year's resolution is to have a re-gifting party. I'm tired of being invited to candle & gift ware parties. Really I don't need another decorative thing in my house. So I plan to invite a bunch of friends over, who will bring some decorative item and we can swap " hidden & dusty" treasures.
